The tote: heavy natural cotton canvas, 15" x 16", with long handles that go over the shoulder. Big enough for the farmers' market, a flat of seedlings or a bunch of cut flowers. Spot clean.

Is the Garden Department a real department?
Only in the sense that it has a seal and strong opinions about frost dates. It's a small Common Field Co. collection for people who garden: no meetings, no dues, and the only minutes kept are in a seed journal.
Are the plants and insects drawn accurately?
That's the rule we work to. Each plant is drawn from its real structure: tomato flowers with swept-back petals, the right leaf shape and arrangement for each crop, honeybees with six legs and four wings, and the correct Latin name on every botanical plate. If you spot something a horticulturist would wince at, tell us and we'll fix it.
How do the tees fit?
Our tees are heavyweight, garment-dyed cotton with a relaxed, slightly boxy fit. They run true to size — size up if you like a looser, vintage drape. Check the size chart on each product for exact measurements.
How are the graphics printed?
Graphics are printed directly into the fabric, so they're soft to the touch and wear in like a favorite old shirt. Hats are embroidered. Wash cold, inside out, and hang dry to keep them looking right for years.
When will my order ship?
Everything is made to order, just for you. Most orders are printed and shipped within 2–5 business days, then take 3–7 business days to arrive in the U.S. You'll get a tracking link as soon as it's on the way.
How much is shipping?
Free U.S. shipping on orders of $75 or more. Under $75, it's a flat $5.95, no matter how many pieces are in your order. We currently ship within the United States.
